Hi Ken, Pleased your enjoyed your 1st loose attempt and well done for trying this fun way with watercolours. To answer your question I keep the paper wet through the first 60% of the painting by first getting water on to the scene little sporadically to start with then more specifically to the area I want to work with. When the areas are dry and I want to return and add more pigment or detail I make the paint mix wet and or add a little water to that area again.I don’t spay as this is to uncontrollable and make everything go fuzzy, I try to leave my white areas untouched throughout the painting but adding gouache is fine its just down to your own preference and style
Enjoy your journey and again feel done!
