Admin replied to the topic Paper size in the forum Tutorials 4 years, 10 months ago

Hi I generally use a small size of watercolour paper approx 15 cm x 25cm this helps you learn the process with out the need to learn extra control that you may need for larger pieces of paper. Choose a format, rectangle, square etc to suit the subject
    Hope this helps
    Regards
    Andrew

Hi Andy. Thank you for Plein Air equipment post. I have been looking at easels and only one or two lay flat ………had hoped to join you in May ! I have an old flower arranging pedestal which might work as a platform for home use and ………… no I don’t work on tissue paper!,😂😂. I think my problem with keeping paper wet is I can’t stand being cold! I think your studio might be chilly !! I have a pad of 200lb paper now and dare myself to use it as I’m sure other issues will arise!
I would like to say Andy ,an enormous THANK YOU for keeping me on my toes through this isolation period. I especially enjoyed your 24hr challenge. Just enough information to give me confidence and use all the skills you have tutored me………… thank you again. Well, suns shining, I want to sing ‘disregard this letter’ but you may not know the song by Allen Sherman! I was a child I might add!😂. Keep safe and
      Keeeep Painting!

Hi Lorna, thanks for your question, it sounds like to much water to start with, I would experiement on scape paper by placing down your normal amount of water then see what happens then do it again and reduce the amount of water you initially use. Also you may be dropping all of your 2 colours directly into the water try placing the 1st colour…[Read more]

I painted this work several years ago now but I remember that at the time of painting

it seemed so effortless, so easy also I didn’t realise that I liked it that much either! Strange to say but I remember I

Hi Beth, thank you for asking and yes theres plenty to choose from. Iw ould start with the beginners and level 1 tutorials also look at the tips and techniques area as this will give you a good overall idea of the process, and no I dont tape the paper down I like the cockling of the paper as it allows the paint to flow more freely and because I…[Read more]
