Hello everyone, and welcome back to another week of loose watercolour fun! I’m checking in a little later this week, and that’s because I’ve been enjoying the last of the sunlight before the clocks go forward, out and about painting. How’s your week been? Good, I hope. But however it’s been, I hope that this week goes fantastically, and you get up to all sorts of fun things.
It was lovely to see you all at this week’s live broadcast, which was ‘October Light’ – just in case you didn’t know that it’s well and truly autumn. If you missed it, don’t worry! There’s a short recap video of what we got up to just below.
During the cold nights like these, I often like to think back to warmer days. Here’s a throwback to when I spent some time down in Bibury, in the Cotswolds, and had some fun in the sun.
If you fancy some loose watercolour painting practice this week, then you’re in luck! There’s a beginners’ tutorial included just below, ‘Pink Meadow & Bee,’ for you to try out. Let me know how you get on!
Loose Watercolour Workshop in Leicestershire
Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th November 2025
Just in case you missed it, I’m hosting a Loose Watercolour Workshop in Leicestershire this November. For only £250, which includes a delicious hot lunch and personal tuition on both days, you can join the creative two-day workshop taught by yours truly.
Running from 10:30am-4:30pm, it’s the perfect opportunity to immerse yourselves in all things loose and lively, and we’ll go over how to capture the freedom, colour, and spontaneity of this wonderful style. In doing so, you’ll build up your confidence in using loose watercolours, as well as having plenty of fun and laughs along the way.
If you’re interested, why not drop me a message, and I can let you know the additional details.
If you want to improve your painting, you might want to consider upgrading to a set of Loose Gang brushes to really make your paintings pop off the page. If so, you can find them by following the link here: https://loosewatercolours.com/product-category/loose-gang
In terms of my own painting this week, I’ve been enjoying some outdoor scenes – maybe because it’s starting to get too cold to spend any time outdoors. Which one do you all like best? I’m always curious to find out.
That’s all from me just now, as the nights are drawing in, so of course it’s time to scavenge a blanket and a nice cup of tea. As always, this week, there’s an exclusive tutorial available especially for all of you lovely paid subscribers – after all, it’s your support that helps keep this Substack running! So I hope you all enjoy painting along to ‘Moon & the Church.’
Toby and I will be back in your inboxes very soon, but until next time, it’s goodbye from us both. Have a lovely week, and happy painting!
