Hi everyone, and welcome back to another week of loose watercolour fun! I’ve just got back from a lovely painting holiday down in Wells, Somerset, and phew! What a week! It’s been great fun, and of course, I got lots of painting done. How’s your week been? Just as good, I hope.
It was lovely to see you all joining the live broadcast last night, ‘Dancing Autumn Leaves.’ I hope you all had as much fun as I did, especially when capturing all of the magical colours of autumn. There’s definitely a chill in the air these days, which can only mean one thing – seasons changing. But it’s the perfect inspiration for some lovely loose watercolours!
In terms of my own painting, I, of course, got up to lots on the painting holiday. Here’s just a few of the things I got to paint – the Bishop’s Palace Gardens in the centre of Wells, and the Bishop’s Gate House, next to the Cathedral.
Here’s a quick demo in Nunney village centre – we chose the spot well as it was just round the corner from the pub!
And here’s the Gate House Tower to the Palace! Very dramatic, if I do say so myself.
But that’s enough from me about the painting trip. I’m sure you’re all eager to get some painting practice in, and of course, there’s a new tutorial over on Patreon for you to try out. ‘Random Abstract’ is just a loose wet on wet painting, where the fun really lies in seeing where the painting goes. You can give it a try by following the link here: https://www.patreon.com/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours
There’s also a free tutorial here for you all to try – perfect for testing out your brush skills. This week’s free tutorial is ‘Blue Fountain Floral,’ so be sure to give it a go!
And if you’d like improve your loose painting by treating yourself to a set of Loose Gang brushes, you can by following the link here: https://loosewatercolours.com/product-category/loose-gang
Of course, now that autumn is here, there’s some fantastic inspiration all around, and you can bet I’ve been taking full advantage of the cooler weather. Here’s a loose interior scene that I painted a little earlier this week – you can almost hear the fire crackling in the corner.
That’s all from me this time, though, as I’m still a bit tired from all that travelling and painting excitement. So I’m off to cool down with – you guessed it – some more painting. As always, though, there’s an exclusive tutorial included at the end of this Substack for all of you paid subscribers, as an extra-special thank you for all of your support. I hope you all enjoy painting along to ‘Mushroom Selfie!’
Toby and I will be back in your inboxes very soon, but until next time, it’s goodbye from us both. Have a lovely week, and happy painting!
