Saxby Church

A fairly local church to me  that I had

never seen before, hidden away along a narrow street.

The sunlight cascaded through the firs and dappled

on the light stone…a moment of joy!

I like the idea of early morning with a dramatic light.
So it’s time to experiment and learn how best to capture
this seldom seen part of our day.

Falling blossoms from delicate branches

captured in a simple manner.

What a joy the see the painting unfold,

I’m inspired to try out this method a little

more!

A very cold day in the center of England today but I promised myself to go out and paint Plein air everyday, so I sought refuge in our village church. The alter was an immediate draw as was

Snap shot of a summer window…

You can almost feel the warm summer sun!

A little visit to my local areas

and I came across an old barn by the church

so paints at the ready I spent 20 minutes trying

to capture the feel of the moment…

You can too time to discover!

Just keep things simple, when you feel yourself over thinking the painting take a break and imagine the finished painting as you want it to be then you will have a marker to aim for and not just little steps

I just wanted to try a quick floral before heading in to town, no real plan,

but it came out quite nicely…you never know where the journey takes you

…so just try!

A day trip turned into a quick stop in a lay-by for a spot of Plein air looseness!

Try not to let the environment take over, traffic, cold all manner of things….just paint and enjoy the freedom
