Hello everyone, and welcome back to another week of loose watercolour fun! We’re back to the usual scheduling this week, as it’s been slightly quieter in Looseville these past few days – but that’s most definitely a good thing! How’s your week been? Did you get any painting done? However it went, it’s time for a reset and fresh start, and of course, time for a spot of painting!
It was lovely to see you all at this week’s live broadcast, which was ‘Kitty Moon’ – Halloween is just around the corner, so it’s black cats and autumn leaves on the brain. Live broadcasts are usually on a Monday night around 8pm, so be sure to keep an eye out here if you want to join in: https://www.youtube.com/@AndrewGeesonloosewatercolours/streams
That’s not all this week, as there’s also a new tutorial over on Patreon if Christmas is your preferred holiday. ‘Robin’s Gift’ is available now for all of your Christmas-themed crafts – they’d make a lovely little addition to any cards and presents this year! You can find them by following the link here: https://www.patreon.com/cw/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours
In terms of my own painting this week, I’ve been thinking a lot about comings and goings, which, in this case, led to ‘Departure,’ this lovely little picture based on afternoons spent musing at a train station.
Would you like some more painting practice this week? Well then, you’re in luck, as there’s a free tutorial just below, ‘Poinsettia Abstract.’ Yes, I know, I know, we’re still only in October, but Christmas will be here before you know it! So why not get in the festive spirit by giving this tutorial a go?
Loose Watercolour Workshop in Leicestershire
Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th November 2025
Just in case you missed it, I’m hosting a Loose Watercolour Workshop in Leicestershire this November. For only £250, which includes a delicious hot lunch and personal tuition on both days, you can join the creative two-day workshop taught by yours truly.
Running from 10:30am-4:30pm, it’s the perfect opportunity to immerse yourselves in all things loose and lively, and we’ll go over how to capture the freedom, colour, and spontaneity of this wonderful style. In doing so, you’ll build up your confidence in using loose watercolours, as well as having plenty of fun and laughs along the way.
If you’re interested, why not drop me a message, and I can let you know the additional details.
If you want to improve your painting, you might want to consider upgrading to a set of Loose Gang brushes. After all, gifting season is right around the corner, and a paintbrush set might be the perfect gift for you or any other budding artists in your life. If so, you can find them by following the link here: https://loosewatercolours.com/product-category/loose-gang
We’ve not heard from Toby in a while, but don’t worry – he’s doing just fine. He’s been enjoying all the sights and smells that October has to offer – and is looking very dapper whilst doing so.
That’s all from me just now, as speaking of Toby, it’s time for us to head out on a walk before it gets just a little too chilly outside – not to mention that there’s a forecast of rain due. As always though, this week there’s an exclusive tutorial available especially for all of you lovely paid subscribers – after all, it’s your support that helps keep this Substack running! So I hope you all enjoy painting along to ‘Snowman & Robins.’
Toby and I will be back in your inboxes very soon, but until next time, it’s goodbye from us both. Have a lovely week, and happy painting!
