Summer days

Hello everyone, and welcome back to another week of loose watercolours! How’s your week been? Good, I hope. It’s been all systems go over here this week, but of course, I’ve managed to get some painting done. It’s my favourite part of the week!

It was so lovely to see all of you joining us for our recent live broadcast, ‘Kitty Meadow.’ We painted a little kitty waiting for their butterfly friends in the meadow, and it was an excuse to get all of the bright colours out to create a beautiful picture. If you missed it but would like to paint along, you can catch it here at loosewatercolours.com.

If you’d like some more painting practice this week, then why not head over to the Patreon site, where there’s a new tutorial for you to play with? ‘Radish’ is inspired by all of those deliciously great summer vegetables that are now perfectly in season, so what better time to paint along? You can watch it by following the link here: https://www.patreon.com/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours

This week, I thought we’d continue our little look at some basic loose watercolour tips and techniques to help develop your painting skills. This week’s theme is ‘colouring shapes,’ so as per usual, watch the video below to get a sense of what to do, then feel free to bring it into your own painting!

In terms of my own painting this week, I’ve been enjoying the sunshine, so a spot of plein air was on the cards recently. Here’s a quick painting that I did whilst sipping on a cup of tea in a nearby café.

This week, I thought I’d give you all another free tutorial to test your loose skills with – perfect if you’re looking for some watercolour inspiration. Today’s subject is ‘Red Floral Cherry,’ so watch along below, give it a go yourselves, and have fun! I can’t wait to see what you all come up with.

That’s all from me this week, as I’m about to head down to the Cotswolds for a few days – I have a few days of painting planned, and I still need to pack! After all, what better way to spend a sunny August? As always, though, there’s an exclusive tutorial included at the end of this Substack for all of you paid subscribers, as a special thank you for all of your support. I hope you all enjoy painting along to ‘Art Deco Vase!’

Toby and I will be back in your inboxes very soon, but until next time, it’s goodbye from us both. Have a lovely week, and happy painting!
