Hello everyone, and welcome back to another week of loose watercolours! How’ve you been? Good, I hope! If the weather for you has been anything like it has been over here, then you’ll have been enjoying the lovely sunshine. Toby and I have been camped out in the garden all week, catching a slight tan and enjoying some cold ice cream now that summer has well and truly arrived.
It was great to see so many of you at the live broadcast last week – I hope you all enjoyed painting along to ‘Friend at the Door!’ If you didn’t manage to watch it, you can find the recording by following the link here: https://loosewatercolours.com/new-loose-techniques/110-friend-at-the-door
Typically live broadcasts are on Monday nights, around 8pm GMT, so keep your calendars clear for then if you want to join in the fun!
And if you’d like to see everyone’s magnificent paintings for yourselves, why not join the Loose Watercolour Beginners’ Facebook Group? That way, you’ll also get regular reminders and painting tips every week, and you’ll never miss a live broadcast again! You can join here for free via the link: https://m.facebook.com/groups/753969806117098/?ref=share
If you’d like more painting practice, there’s also a new tutorial, ‘Mushroom Selfie,’ available on Patreon. We’re on a veg roll after last week’s carrot! You can watch along by following the link here: patreon.com/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours
And you’re absolutely spoilt for choice this week, as there’s an entirely free tutorial for you to try over on loosewatercolours.com. You can watch ‘Simple Delphs’ below, or, if that doesn’t work, by following the link here: loosewatercolours.com
This week, I made the most of the sunshine by trying a spot of plein air painting down by the village brooke. I’ve been experimenting a little with different paints recently, and this time, I tried acrylics in the loose style. What do you think?
I’ve also been looking at some old paintings, and I’m curious as to which ones you all prefer? It helps me get a sense of what you like to paint, so it helps me plan out different tutorials for you to enjoy.
The Loose Gang have got up to a bit of fun this week!

That’s all from Toby and I this week, as Wimbledon is still on and I can hear a tennis ball being hit over the net from the other room! As always, though, there’s an exclusive tutorial at the end of this post for all of you paid subscribers, as a huge thank you for all of your generous support. This week’s tutorial is ‘Buzzy Bee,’ as I’ve been spotting a lot of them in our garden as of late. Until next time though, it’s goodbye from Toby and I, and we’ll be back in your inboxes very soon. But until then, have a great week, and happy painting!
