Hello everyone, and welcome back to another week of loose watercolour fun! How’s your week been? Filled with painting? Or did you get up to other things? However your week went, it’s time for a fresh start, and hopefully, it’s time for some loose watercolour fun over the next few days.
Now that the leaves are well and truly turning orange, there’s a lot of autumnal inspiration in the air, so it’s the perfect time to get those paints out. That’s certainly the theme of this week’s live broadcast, which was ‘Halloween Mushroom.’
It was lovely to see you all last night, and I hope you all had as much fun as I did! In fact, I thought I’d include a quick recap of this week’s broadcast in case you missed it. You can watch along down below!
If you’d like to get some painting practice in this week, there’s a tutorial over on Patreon, where you can give ‘Kitty Leaves’ a go! If you’d like to give this one a try, just follow the link here: https://www.patreon.com/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours
And that’s not all! There’s another tutorial for you all to get some loose practice in this week, as there’s a free tutorial just below for you to try out. ‘Acorns’ is a nice little autumnal-themed subject perfect for any seasonal watercolours that you get up to painting.
Loose Watercolour Workshop in Leicestershire
Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th November 2025
Just in case you missed it, I’m hosting a Loose Watercolour Workshop in Leicestershire this November. For only £250, which includes a delicious hot lunch and personal tuition on both days, you can join the creative two-day workshop taught by yours truly.
Running from 10:30am-4:30pm, it’s the perfect opportunity to immerse yourselves in all things loose and lively, and we’ll go over how to capture the freedom, colour, and spontaneity of this wonderful style. In doing so, you’ll build up your confidence in using loose watercolours, as well as having plenty of fun and laughs along the way.
If you’re interested, why not drop me a message, and I can let you know the additional details.
If you want to improve your painting, you might want to consider upgrading to a set of Loose Gang brushes to really make your paintings pop off the page. If so, you can find them by following the link here: https://loosewatercolours.com/product-category/loose-gang
And here’s a little magnolia painting to brighten up your day!
That’s all from me just now, as the kettle’s just boiled, and so I reckon it’s the perfect time for a nice cup of tea. As always, this week, there’s an exclusive tutorial available especially for all of you lovely paid subscribers – after all, it’s your support that helps keep this Substack running! So I hope you all enjoy painting along to ‘Pots of Wells.’
Toby and I will be back in your inboxes very soon, but until next time, it’s goodbye from us both. Have a lovely week, and happy painting!
