Vagues de chaleur

Hello everyone, and welcome back to another week of loose watercolours! How’s your week been? Good, I hope. We’ve been getting up to quite a lot here – lots of travels up north for painting related things. And of course, enjoying the sunshine! We’ve had a wonderful blast of summer over these past few days, so little Toby the dog has been sunbathing all over the house. He always manages to find the best spots!

It was fantastic to see you all at this week’s live broadcast. I hope you all had as much fun as I did painting ‘Summer Fields’ as much as I did! Don’t worry if you missed it – you can catch the show here by following the link: https://loosewatercolours.com/new-loose-techniques/107-summer-fields

If you’d like some more painting practice, there’s also another tutorial available this week over on the Patreon site, ‘Golden Pears.’ You can watch along by following the link here: patreon.com/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours

And that’s not all! There’s also another tutorial now available over on the loosewatercolours.com website, ‘Two Blue Flowers.’ This is aimed at beginners, so this is the ideal one to watch if you’re just starting out on your loose watercolours journey. You can watch it here by following this link: https://loosewatercolours.com/academy/two-blue-flowers

But I’d like to practice my loose watercolour skills right now! That’s okay, I hear you. So why not try out this free bee tutorial below? It’s perfect for any floral landscapes you’re planning to paint this summer season. So give it a go! I’m excited to see how all of your buzzy little bees turn out.

Paint Historic Wells & Somerset : Septembre 2025

This week, I thought we’d take a deeper dive into washes, and what that means in regards to your loose watercolour painting. You may have heard me talk about washes in various tutorials and in the live broadcast, but we’ve been going back to basics over the past few months, and I thought taking a closer look at what exactly washes are and how they can help your painting would be useful for you all. So watch the video below, and then watch your loose paintings bloom with the magic of wash!

Are your brushes looking a bit worn? Then meet The Loose Gang! If you’re in the market for some new brushes, look no further – The Loose Gang brush set is what I use in every single tutorial. They’re designed specifically for loose watercolour work and make painting florals and landscapes a breeze. You can grab your set here, or treat someone special this summer: https://loosewatercolours.com/product-category/loose-gang

That’s all from Toby and I this week, as I can smell a delicious cake just fresh out of the oven – that’s how you know it’s summer in the Geeson household! As always, though, there’s an exclusive tutorial at the end of this post for all of you paid subscribers, as a huge thank you for all of your generous support. This week’s tutorial is ‘Poppy Twins,’ and I hope you all enjoy painting along!
