Hello everyone, and welcome back to another week with Loose Watercolours! How’ve you been? Good, I hope. Toby and I have been enjoying the return of the warm weather this week, so we’ve been enjoying lots of lovely walks around the village. I keep finding him sunbathing in all of the sunspots in the garden, so he’s definitely enjoying the sunny skies these days. Meanwhile, I’ve been enjoying some Pleinair painting. It’s the perfect opportunity for it!
It was lovely to see so many of you at last week’s live broadcast, where we painting along to ‘Still Curious.’ If you missed it, and want to paint along with this curious kitten, don’t worry! You still can by catching the broadcast playback over at loosewatercolours.com.
Thank you to all of you that got in touch and informed me that the flowers in the Cathedral window last week were hydrangeas, and not chrysanthemums. I think I might need to spend a little more time in the garden! Regardless of my little flower mix up, I made a tutorial for the photo by popular demand, and it’s now available over on my Patreon channel.

This week, I thought we’d take another look at some basic tips and techniques to help develop your painting skills. This time, we’ll take a closer look at a key element of painting – the strength and tone of your paints. Watch along with the tutorial below a few times until you really get the hang of it, then give it a go yourselves.
I’ve been looking through some of my old floral paintings, and I’m curious as to which one you all like best? Let me know in the poll down below.
This week, I thought I’d give you all a free tutorial to test your loose skills with! Today’s subject is ‘Trio of Roses,’ so watch along below, give it a go yourselves, and have fun! I can’t wait to see what you all come up with.

That’s all from me this week, as I’m about to nip out for a quick swim. After all, what better way to spend a Tuesday afternoon in the summer? As always, though, there’s an exclusive tutorial included at the end of this Substack for all of you paid subscribers, as a special thank you for all of your support. I hope you all enjoy painting along to ‘Two Blue Flowers!’
Toby und ich werden bald wieder in euren Postfächern auftauchen, aber bis zum nächsten Mal verabschieden wir uns von euch. Ich wünsche euch eine schöne Woche und viel Spaß beim Malen!
