Hello everyone, and welcome back to this week’s edition of Loose Watercolours! A slightly later edition this week, but that’s because I’ve been out and about, bracing the bitter cold to do a spot of painting. It seems like January has absolutely flown by, without even a second to stop and put the kettle on. Phew! Of course, that doesn’t mean that there’s not been time for any painting.
It was lovely to see you all at the last live broadcast, which was ‘Roses are Red.’ If you’re looking to paint more over this new year, why not come along to one of the live broadcasts? They’re usually on Monday nights at 8pm GMT, and you can watch them by popping along here: loosewatercolours.com
In fact, why not look at some of these fantastic paintings that you’ve all done? Let me know if you can spot yours.
If you’d like some more painting practice this week, then there’s another tutorial available for you to try just below. ‘Fun Poppies in Blue’ is a beginners’ tutorial where you can have some floral fun – and end up with a nice painting to boot! The short version is available here, but if you’d like the full narrated tutorial, hop on over to Patreon to catch the whole thing: https://www.patreon.com/c/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours
If you want more tutorials, there’s also a new one available over on the website, ‘Garden View.’ If, like me, you’re dreaming of brighter days, a painting of this beautifully sunny garden might be just the tonic on a cold winter’s night. You can paint along by following the link here: loosewatercolours.com
If you’ve accidently missed the memo, the loose watercolours website has had a little bit of a revamp over the last month or two. Why not head over there and check it out? There’s lots of exciting things to discover, but in the meantime, let’s take a closer look at what membership of the website entails.
You can explore yourselves by following the link here: https://loosewatercolours.com/shop/memberships/monthly-membership/
I’ve been practicing some plein air in the cold this week – unfortunately it’s still a little too cold for Toby the dog though, so this was a solo trip. Here’s what I got up to! I painted a fast flowing river, and an old local pub. What do you think?
Maybe painting is a new year’s resolution for you, or maybe you’re just looking to treat someone special in your life. If so, why not upgrade to a set of Loose Gang brushes? If you’re interested, you can find them by following the link here: https://loosewatercolours.com/product-category/the-loose-gang
That’s all from me for now, as I’m off to take Toby the dog on a little walk before it gets too dark. After a quick tea stop, though! There’s nothing like a nice cuppa on a cold day. As always, however, this week there’s an exclusive tutorial available especially for all of you lovely paid subscribers – after all, it’s your support that helps keep this Substack running! So I hope you all enjoy painting along to ‘Veil on Florals’ – a lovely outdoor painting and a great painting start to the new year.
Toby and I will be back in your inboxes very soon, but until next time, it’s goodbye from us both. Have a lovely week, and happy painting!
